About Trippin With Dixi
“Mere color, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways. ”
Color gives life and levity to the otherwise mundane. It lifts my spirit and my mood. For me, dying fiber is like magic and surprise as each color combination reveals itself within the dye pot. And as one color melts into another, creating yet another color, I can't help but feel a charge of energy and excitement. I want to do it over and over again. I learn something everyday down in the studio. I accept the flops as a lesson in what not to do. And those that work, a gift. I want to create beautiful yarn so that I can pass it along to those who knit and crochet to create their own work of art.
Trippin' With Dixi Fiber Co. Is a teeny-tiny hand dyed fiber company located is White Bear Lake, Minnesota. The name comes from my middle name and nickname, Dix. My husband is a good ole' southern boy and he gave me the name Dixi.
I see life as an adventure. I get inspiration from where I go and what I see and what I do, thus the name Trippin' With Dixi. My time in the studio is an adventure of learning and creating new things. I look at knitting as an adventure too. Where you start and where you finish and everywhere in between. Think of all the places one knitting project goes. The soccer games, boat rides, airplanes and road trips and finally landing on your favorite chair in your favorite room.
You can find my yarn here online or in person at Lila and Claudine's, the yarn shop I own with my sister Kirsten in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. To learn more about Lila and Claudine's and all of the awesome things that go on there, go to www.lilaandclaudines.com
