About Trippin With Dixi
My name is Polly Dix Hart snd I am an Indie dyer working from my basement in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. There is nothing glamorous about my tiny dye studio but, I cherish my time in the studio. I see it as an adventure of learning and creating new things. I look at knitting as an adventure too. Where you start, where you finish and everywhere in between. Think of all the places one knitting project goes: the soccer games, boat rides, airplanes, road trips and finally landing on your favorite chair in your favorite room.
Color gives life and levity to the otherwise mundane. It lifts my spirit and my mood. For me, dying fiber is like making magic full of surprises . As one color melts into another, creating yet another color, I can't help but feel a charge of energy and excitement. I want to do it over and over again. I learn something everyday down in the studio. I accept the flops as a lesson in what not to do and those that work, a gift. I want to create beautiful yarn so I can pass it along to those who knit and crochet to create their own works of art
“Mere color, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways. ”
